The Child Development Laboratory School: One Combined Program

It has been six months since our two programs (SGM & CDC) have combined into a high-quality early learning program under one roof. The CDLS is a program that focuses on fostering the individual uniqueness of each child, their creative spirit, their cognitive and intellectual development, and utilizing the benefits that come from being part of a community of learners. This paradigm is apparent in both the Full Day and Part Day programs. Collaborating has been inspiring!  The work behind the scenes has been going on for a few years now, and the continued engagement of staff has made it clear that we have one mission and set of values that drive our work each day.

Mission:

The University of Minnesota Child Development Laboratory School (CDLS)  in the Institute of Child Development, is an early development model and demonstration program whose practices are guided by current research in child development.  The program serves as the primary training site for teacher candidates in early childhood programs and is an active center for observation and research focused on early development, education, and high-quality care and education for young children.
