The beginning of the school year is an exciting time of year for all of us – teachers, children, and caregivers! There are so many feelings you and your child may have as you go through the first months of school.
In order to ease the transition, it is very important to establish a routine that is predictable for your child. Here are a couple of articles from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) about separation and transitions that may be helpful to read as your child begins a new journey going to preschool. Please take a look:
- “Easing First Day Jitters: Strategies for Successful Home-to-School Transitions,” NAEYC
- “13 Tips for Starting Preschool,” NAEYC
If you have any questions about the beginning of the school year, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s lead teacher.
Online Parent Education Classes
I will be starting a monthly online parent education class, and the topics will be chosen by you! In the next couple of weeks, a survey will be sent to all families with a variety of parenting topics for you to choose from. Please choose the most important topics you would like to have more knowledge of or discussion about and we will make them happen through the online chat and discussion sessions. No childcare necessary and you can do it in the convenience of your own home through your computer or your phone. Stay tuned!
Have a wonderful first semester!
